Claire Strofield
Claire is a native of Sydney, Australia, and has lived in London, San Diego, San Francisco, and now resides in Los Angeles.
For the last thirteen years Claire has worked in Executive Search, headhunting C-Suite and Board talent for biotech start-ups and multi-national companies. Prior to this, Claire worked as an elementary school teacher, a cytotechnologist (diagnosing cancer under the microscope), and a medical sales representative for Astra Zeneca. In April 2025, Claire left her corporate career to pursue a full-time writing career.
Claire’s 10-minute play, The Apartment, was produced by the Playwrights’ Centre of San Francisco for their 2021 Play-offs season. Another of her 10-minute plays, Pigeons & Plungers, was performed in the 2025 Production ‘Your Worst Nightmare’ at San Francisco’s Theatre 33. Her short story, She Left a Note was published in San Francisco 2019 anthology Quiet Lighting: Sparkle and Blink. In 2025, Claire completed her memoir, ‘Forgetting to be Invisible,’ as well as a channeled book and a collection of flash fiction.
Claire studied playwriting at Gotham in New York under Richard Caliban, who was the Artistic Director at Cucaracha Theatre for nine seasons. Claire was also mentored by Donna Kaz, the 2020 recipient of the Jerry Kaufman Award for Playwriting.
Claire holds a Bachelor of Science (Pre-Med) from the University of Technology, Sydney; a Master of Teaching from the University of Western Sydney, and a Certificate of Creative Writing from Griffith University. Claire is a three-time graduate of The Writer’s Studio in San Francisco. She’s also graduated from the following courses: Directing, UCLA; Screenwriting for TV and Film, UCLA; Screenwriting, Script Anatomy. She studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and Improv at Upright Citizens Brigade.
Claire recently wrote, produced, and directed the short film, Gulls, staring an award-winning cast.
She’s currently working on her next two novels, one set in the Brazilian Amazon and the other on Mars!
